Target Dress [new, $12], Tory Burch pointy toe flats [secondhand, $40] Rebecca Minkoff Studded Bag [new, $55], Chanel Cat Eye Sunglasses [secondhand, $35] Kate Spade Oversized Studs [new, $9] Outfit Total: $151 When you make a purchase at any high end retailer, you can bet your (large) amount of money will be in exchange for a pretty item wrapped up in a bow. Literally! One perk of making such an expensive purchase is getting to carry around your pretty bag tied up with a pretty ribbon. And you should make sure to hold onto every piece! One way to get a small amount of your money back from your large purchase is to resell the designer repackaging you received for "free." Some people want to buy the packaging for decor, others may want to use them as gifts. Either way, I've seen a well kept Chanel bag and bow sell for almost $50! A small portion of what you probably spent, but it's better than nothing! I personally like to hold onto all of my designer packaging. Keep scrolling for my favorite way to re-purpose! This bow came on the Chanel bag when I purchased my Coco Mademoiselle perfume on Rodeo Dr. for my birthday. I love tying my hair back with it because I think it adds a fun, classy detail. And hey, it says Chanel. ;) PLUS it is a super easy hairstyle. I tied my second day hair back with a clear, elastic tie (leaving a few pieces in the front out) and just tied the bow right over. Make sure to puff up the two bows so they do not look all stringy. ALSO! I can't get away without sharing my most recent fancy find, these Tory Burch pointy bow flats. I've been looking for a pointy toe flat with a bow because I think they are so preppy and really pull together an outfit. I found this pair on Poshmark for $50. I put an offer in for $40 (I'm not one of those stingy low-ballers) and the seller accepted quickly! I was so pleased with how good condition they were, for being approximately 1/6 of the retail price. Score! Thanks for reading! Let me know what you think of this type of post in the comments below. :*

Happy Saturday beauties! I know my whole thing here is sharing how to be your very best expensive self without spiraling into debt, but when it comes to beauty purchases, there’s no secondhand or thrifting (ew). And when it comes to these items, sometimes you just have to cough up the change for better, high quality products. While some items are overrated (looking at you La Mer), some I’ve found to be a step above the rest and worth the extra dough. Keep scrolling for the items I’ve found to be worth the higher price tags! Nars Tinted Moisturizer $45 I shared this beauty purchase on my IG story not too long ago, but I am already a believer! You can't Google this Nars tinted moisturizer without finding THOUSANDS of raving reviews. And now I know why! I had all but completely given up on finding a foundation that blends well but still covers, but this is the perfect alternative. Not only does this product moisturize AND protect your skin against the sun, but the tint of color gives just the right amount of coverage without *looking* like you are wearing any cover up. Plus you avoid the general matte-ness of typical foundations, as this product gives you just the right amount of dewy-ness without looking oily. Definitely one of my more expensive makeup purchases, but it's worth every penny! This is my first time purchasing this product, so it is hard to say how long this amount will last. I've had it for approximately a month, and would say I have used about half. coco Mademoiselle Chanel Perfume $130 My all-time favorite scent! When it comes to perfumes, I've found the higher quality and longer lasting products come from high end (+ more expensive) brands. For the longest time, I was sporting the Victoria's Secret Bombshell perfume ($60). While it does smell delicious, I found myself spritzing more on through out the day. A typical bottle would often last me around 6 months. I bought this bottle of Coco Mademoiselle perfume back during my Beverly Hills birthday in March (you can read more about it here!) and it is still going strong 10 months later! MAC Brow Pencil + Brow Gel $36 It really seems brows are just everywhere aren't they? As someone who plucked their eyebrows into tiny lines in middle school (shudder) I'm obsessed now with keeping them thick. For the longest time I was using the Revlon Fantasy dual pencil and brush tool, which was definitely a solid product for being only $6. But like many other drug store purchases, the longevity is just not there. I would come home after a long day to find half the brows I left the house with. I love the MAC brow products because they stick around for hours without smudging or disappearing. Plus a little goes a really long way, I honestly can't remember when I bought these pieces. I would say you only have to re-purchase 2-3 times a year.
Thank you for reading! Let me know what beauty products you splurge on, plus I would love to know if you enjoy reading beauty posts on Fancy Free! Happy New Years lovelies! 2018 is bound to be just amazing, can't you feel it? Express Dress [new, $30], Banana Republic Cork Wedges [secondhand, $15], YSL Bag [new, $25], Baublebar Dangle Earrings [new, $12] Outfit Total: $82 I wore this outfit for a small New Years Eve Party get together, and it really made me feel oh so festive! I got so many compliments on this dress, which I actually scored through a Christmas sale Express was having. ALL dresses were only $30! Considering this dress had an original price tag of $118, I would say I got a pretty killer deal! I really loved the sexy, low neckline, and the gold and silver flowers were perfect for the ball drop! I've always really loved New Years, and the possibilities it brought. Fresh start, new you! I'm very excited for what is in store for 2018, and wanted to share with all of you my New Year's resolutions (personal and professional!) for accountability and motivation. Keep me on track y'all! Continue scrolling to read more! 1. Learn How to Drive stick This may be an every day occurrence for most people, but for someone that is so unaware of how an automobile actually works and runs, this terrifies me! What can't we all just press a pedal and go, huh? Well, the fear of learning how gears work has come to an end and I am ready master this skill! I remember my bad ass mom teaching herself how to drive stick in our neighborhood when I was younger and I hope one day I can be half that awesome! I will keep you guys updated here and through social media. Expect one or two anxious IG stories! 2. Write Two Blog Posts a WeekAside from my Fancy Free endeavors, I also work a full time job that requires nearly 3 hours PER DAY of commute (eh, not really too crazy for a typical SoCal-er). This has presented some challenges in the way of creating new content and sharing my finds and views on here though! Fancy Free is my favorite outlet to share my passions, so I have decided to buckle down and stick to a schedule to find the time to do what I love! Starting this first week of January, I am promising two blog posts a week! I've always been an excruciatingly organized person, so I am dictating Wednesdays and Saturdays as new post days! Make sure to check back on these days for new posts, but don't worry if you forget because I will remind you across every social media platform I can get my hands on. ;) 3. Keep Fancy Free Boutique at over 100 items at all times As mentioned above, the weekdays can be a little hectic with work and commute. But I have oh so enjoyed the time I get to spend sourcing nice items and flipping them for some profit! It's like finding a diamond in the rough. :) After all costs and fees, I came out with a profit of around $400 in 2017 selling through eBay since I started the store back in February. Definitely decent, but I know I can do better! Currently at 60 items for sale, my goal is to be at 100 by the end of January and stay there! That may mean less sleep, but that also means more shopping and more money! Keep an eye out for more mid to high end items posted very soon. You can visit my store by clicking on above "fancy free boutique" tab and hitting the link! Thank you so much for reading and allowing me to share my hope for 2018! I encourage you to share your New Year's resolutions with me below so we can all be our very best selves this coming year!
I am also incredibly interested in hearing what you want to see more of from Fancy Free! Sales? Travel? Beauty? Let me know! In accordance with resolution #2, check back here for a new blog post Saturday! |
