Happy Friday! I've been a little MIA this past week, not from choice but from an overload of school assignments, but I'm excited to share my 5 favorite things for this week! 1. Sweaters + Dresses Banana Republic sweater: [new, $10], Saks 5th Ave dress [new, $11], Ann Taylor booties [new, $20], Tiffany & Co earrings [new, gift] Outfit total: $41 The weather is finally starting to cool in Southern California, but is it *really* winter if you still need to turn on the AC? I've been really wanting to break out my cozy winter clothes, but I also don't want to have a heat stroke, you feel me? I love this sweater and dress combo because it is winter cozy that still allows for a breeze. And I love the off the shoulder look for this dress because you can see the fun pattern on the back. Win win! 2. OTK Boots I have been seeing these Stuart Weitzman OTK (over the knee) boots everywhere and OMG I WANT THEM SO MUCH. They are super flattering on every body type I have seen because they create a nice, long, thinning line that every female wants, am I right?? Plus they look great with jeans, dresses, skirts, shorts, whatever. Total wardrobe staple! The down side? This particular shoe retails at around $800...ouch. Its hard to find them even on eBay for anywhere under $500. So yeah, DEFINITELY an investment piece. I have been looking around and have found similar dupes from Steve Madden (here), Aldo (here), and even Target (here). What do you guys think? Is it worth the investment, or is a cheaper brand just as good? 3. DIY Hair Masks A couple weeks back I shared a hair conditioning treatment I love that is a total splurge (see here) but lately I have been exploring cheaper DIY treatments you can do super quick and totally don't require any sort of beauty degree! All you need is: 1 egg 1/2 cup olive oil Just separate the egg white to mix with the olive oil and comb through wet hair. Let sit for at least 10 minutes and then rinse. Voila! My hair was incredibly shiny afterwards and I noticed a lot less split ends. Just make sure to wash it all out completely, or else you may go straight from shiny to greasy! Nobody wants that. 4. Christmas in November Yeah yeah I know it's not even Thanksgiving yet. I've been slowly adding holiday decorations to the house hoping the hubby won't notice....not successfully I might add. But a red wreath is not exclusively Christmas am I right? No tree up yet, that definitely waits until after turkey day. But my Michael Buble holiday Pandora channel may or may not be on as we speak... 5. Doctor Foster If you are looking for your next Netflix binge, you just found it! Cheating husbands, business fraud, a woman on the edge...it's got everything. If you love a psychological drama you should definitely add this to your much watch list!
As always, thanks so much for reading everybody! The hubby and I are going on a weekend getaway to a place I've been longing to visit, and I can't wait to share all that with you next week! In the mean time, make sure to follow @fancyfreeblog on Instagram and Twitter to follow along and see more! :)

Hi lovelies! Inspired by the continuously warm weather in Southern California, I decided I wasn't ready to put away my bright summer colors just yet. I incorporated two hues of pink to add some fun detail for today's outfit! James Perse top [secondhand, $8], Banana Republic shorts [new, $10], Banana Republic heels [new, $15], Banana Republic bag [new, $10], Tiffany & Co necklace [new, gift] Outfit total: $43 I love James Perse because his pieces are so comfy, well-made, and easy to dress up or down. I found this particular top via eBay's "ending soonest" tab, and only paid $8 within the last minutes of the auction! Similar top here retails at over $200! How fun are these heels! The color is catchy, the tie up adds some serious appeal, and the suede is so luxe! Plus the heels are the perfect height and so easy to wear from all day to night. Lips: Smashbox Be Legendary Long-Wear Lip Lacquer Nails: Essie "after school boy blazer" and "summit of style" As always, thanks so much for reading! Definitely let me know what you think and what would like to see in my next posts. And make sure to follow me on social media to see more pics and every day fun! Link at the top of this page!
Hi everyone! This weekend the hubby got to take his new love and side chick out on the race track for the first time, and we had such a blast! Saks 5th Ave t-shirt [new, $7], Gap button up [secondhand, $5], Levi jean shorts [new, $20], H&M hat [new, $15], H&M flats [new, $20] We woke up bright and early Sunday morning, and headed out to the Auto Club Speedway, a pretty legit race track in Fontana, CA that holds Nascar and such. That's my guy! Helmets mean serious business...he was hitting speeds upward of 140mph! He had four 20 minute heats, and for the last two I actually got to ride along! Eeeee scary but fun!
Make sure to follow the fun @fancyfreeblog on IG for more behind scenes pics and videos on my story! Thank you for reading! xo For a little twist on the "Five Friday Favorites" category, I decided to make a post about five ways to use my favorite accessory...the silk scarf! Enjoy! 1. Doll Up Your Bag Guess suede dress [new, $30], Gucci bag [secondhand, hand me down], Gucci scarf [new, gift] A classic! Tying a knot or bow will spice up your bag and add a pop to your outfit. 2. Tied Up With a Bow Lazy hair day? Fold your scarf into a two inch strip and bring both ends up behind your ears to the top of your head. Tie your bow and pull apart loops for a fuller look. Tuck in the ends and voila! 3. Knotty Wrap A simpler headband option if the bow isn't really your style. Pull up behind ears, tie a double knot, and tuck in ends. 4. Wrist Wear Like a corsage ala your high school prom. Make sure to tie it on your less dominate hand! 5. Neck Scarf-ing It Channel your inner 70s chic! If you aren't feeling the long ends, wrap twice around your neck for a simpler look.
Thank you for reading, and if you enjoy seeing posts like this, please let me know in the comments below! Happy November! While fall is my favorite season for fashion and style (scarfs, hats, boots, oh my!), it can be difficult to create an autumn inspired ensemble when the temperatures are still well above cool. To get into the November spirit, I thought I would share one of my go to fall outfits! Banana Republic top [new, $10], Express skirt [new, $15], Nordstrom boots [new, $50], Gucci scarf [new, gift], Gucci bag [secondhand, hand me down], Michael Kors watch [new, gift], Banana Republic bracelet [new, $10] I love the mini skirt and boot combo because it still screams changing leaves without having to over heat. And for being long-sleeved, this top is super light and breathes well. Important! While I love the big blanket scarf trend everyone is wearing, there is no way I can pull it off right now without sweating my boots off. So I opted for a silk scarf around the neck, which I think is equally cute and fall-ish! Especially in the Gucci red and green. ;) These Louise et Cie boots I've had for years, and I actually scored them for a quarter of the price from Nordstrom Rack. They are great quality, and as they accumulate the occasional scuff it only adds character. I really love skirts (because I really hate pants), so I was super excited to find this adorable skirt in the clearance section of Express just this past week! Markdowns were an additional 40% off, and I found an additional 15% off discount via Retail Me Not. I always check this app for mall stores, because a lot of times they have coupons or additional reductions! As for the skirt itself, the material is super strechy and comfortable, and the tie up the front adds a really fun detail to the outfit. This is not deja vu... you have seen this bag a number times. (Like here, here, and here.) I was lucky enough to have a fabulous great-aunt to pass this along to me, and it is definitely one of the most previous pieces I own. A neutral, high quality bag is definitely wardrobe staple numero uno. We shot in downtown Riverside, which I've always loved to visit because of the Spanish architecture and picturesque storefronts. This is right in the main square, adjacent to the Mission Inn Hotel & Spa. If you are ever near the area, I definitely recommend you give it a chance! There are a number of unique shops, restaurants, and salons to window shop and explore. And while you're there, check out Casey's Cupcakes. BOMB. Is any outfit really complete without a goofy smile? I think not! :)
