Black booties are a versatile wardrobe staple that can be dressed up or down, and I can't believe I got mine at such a great deal of $29 at Marshalls! They are suede, intentionally distressed around heels and toes, and feature cute double zippers. Sadly they were the very last pair at the Marshalls I went to and I haven't seen them at any other location, but I've found these $200 booties on sale elsewhere for as low as $59! PLUS everything ships for free over $50! I'm thinking about snagging a brown pair because they are just so well made and go with everything. I've found they run true to size so make sure to order your regular size. Just click the pictures below to shop!

Five Friday Favorites

9/22/2017

In honor of the best day of the week, I am celebrating with a list of my top five favorite things at the moment! Enjoy!

1. tv show Younger

Picture
This show is so stinkin' cute! I had heard good things about it for a while, but it is a TV Land original, so I was a little iffy. But trust when I say this show is an adorable way to escape for 30 minutes. In a nutshell, the premise is that this 40 year old divorcee mom is trying to gt back into the world of publishing, but no one wants to hire her because of her age. She decides to reinvent herself as a 26 year old and hilarity ensues as she constantly tries to keep up the charade. Definitely a must see!

2. Fall Drinks

Picture
Fall is definitely in the air (even currently in SoCal!) so that means dark evenings, crisp air, and a warm beverage. I know everyone loves the pumpkin spice (I do too!) but there are other equally wonderful delicious and fall-ish flavors to try. A personal favorite of mine is the Maple Pecan iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts. We have been blessed by the Dunkin gods to have one built SUPER close to our house, and I take advantage of it constantly. If you are on the East Coast, or lucky enough to have one near you on the West Coast, this drink is definitely a fall must try!

3. Weekend Happy Hour

Picture
As the hubs and I have been very busy with work and travel lately, we have been on the hunt for yummy weekend happy hours the past few weeks, but they are definitely not easy to find. Most happy hours are only during week days, as those are the least busiest times. However, we have found some success. One particularly great weekend happy hour is at Paul Martin's. They have happy hour every day from 3-7pm in the bar, and it includes a long list of $6 wines, cocktails, beers, and appetizers. They also have $13 entrees that include alcohol! Definitely a must try the next time you are scouring for decent happy hour.

4. l'occitane hand cream

Picture
What your mother told you was true. Your hands DO show the first signs of age. That is why I have become obsessed with L'Occitane products. They are a french body products company that makes a number of items, their most popular being hand creams and butters. They go on so smooth, are not oily at all, and your hands are left feeling so soft. A small tube goes for around $12, so it is not the cheapest hand creme, but I definitely think the results have been worthwhile!

5. All things gingham

Picture
As I have mentioned in other posts, I'm not a huge fan of Target clothing. It is not always made with the highest quality materials, so after a few washes you find the items worn out and pilled. But when I mozied past the clearance rack, I couldn't find the strength to put this jacket back! The gingham is perfectly adorable for fall, it is made with 100% cotton, and it was only around $10!! That first week I got it I wore it three times...no shame in the gingham game!

5 Friday Favorites: 2016 Fancy Finds

It's almost 2017, and I just want to say thank you to all of you that have supported me through this adventure! Fancy Free has been so much fun for me, and has grown more in the past few months than I ever expected! I am so excited to see what happens in this new year, but before that, I want to look back at a few of my favorite finds since Fancy Free began back in June. Enjoy!

1. Jimmy Choo Pumps

Picture

I Paid $60
Original Price: $600

I scored these shoes via eBay after having been searching for a high end pair (Choo, Dior, Louboutin) of classic pumps for a while. A used but good condition pair of these shoes were typically around $200, so I was excited to find this pair with only minimal wear and scratching with only an hour left in bidding but no bids! I waited until the last seconds and placed the (only) bid and voila, I was the owner of Jimmy Choos! They even came with the original dust bag!

2. Louis Vuitton Bag

Picture

I Paid $100
Original Price: $1000

This bag was also an eBay purchase, and I got lucky the same why because there had been very little bidding so the price had not been pushed too high. It was a "watched" item, so I received notifications on it and was able to stay up to date on bids and the amount of time left. I waited until the very end and eventually won this bag for $90 (+$10 shipping)!

3. Burberry Bikini

Picture

I Paid $20
Original Price: $225

I'm sensing a trend here because this bikini is also eBay! I was so excited for this suit because it is in the classic Burberry nova check pattern but in an adorable light pink color.

4. Dior Sunnies

Picture

I Paid $40
Original Price: $200

You guessed it...eBay! While this pair didn't come with a case, the cat eye shape and fluorescent pink color makes these shades a fun pair to spice up an outfit!

5. Mystery Item!

Picture

I paid $50
Original Price: $800

Ok guys this may be my biggest fancy find thus far! SO excited about this one becuase it is a piece I have been wanting for my wardrobe FOREVAAA. It is currently en route from Europe so it's not going to be here for a while and it is killinggg meee. Can you guys guess what it is? ;)

5 Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! I've been a little MIA this past week, not from choice but from an overload of school assignments, but I'm excited to share my 5 favorite things for this week!

1. Sweaters + Dresses

Picture
Picture
Picture
Banana Republic sweater: [new, $10], Saks 5th Ave dress [new, $11], Ann Taylor booties [new, $20], Tiffany & Co earrings [new, gift]
Outfit total: $41
The weather is finally starting to cool in Southern California, but is it *really* winter if you still need to turn on the AC? I've been really wanting to break out my cozy winter clothes, but I also don't want to have a heat stroke, you feel me? I love this sweater and dress combo because it is winter cozy that still allows for a breeze. And I love the off the shoulder look for this dress because you can see the fun pattern on the back. Win win!

2. OTK Boots

Picture
I have been seeing these Stuart Weitzman OTK (over the knee) boots everywhere and OMG I WANT THEM SO MUCH. They are super flattering on every body type I have seen because they create a nice, long, thinning line that every female wants, am I right?? Plus they look great with jeans, dresses, skirts, shorts, whatever. Total wardrobe staple! The down side? This particular shoe retails at around $800...ouch. Its hard to find them even on eBay for anywhere under $500. So yeah, DEFINITELY an investment piece. I have been looking around and have found similar dupes from Steve Madden (here), Aldo (here), and even Target (here). What do you guys think? Is it worth the investment, or is a cheaper brand just as good?

3. DIY Hair Masks

Picture
A couple weeks back I shared a hair conditioning treatment I love that is a total splurge (see here) but lately I have been exploring cheaper DIY treatments you can do super quick and totally don't require any sort of beauty degree!

All you need is:

1 egg
1/2 cup olive oil

Just separate the egg white to mix with the olive oil and comb through wet hair. Let sit for at least 10 minutes and then rinse. Voila!

My hair was incredibly shiny afterwards and I noticed a lot less split ends. Just make sure to wash it all out completely, or else you may go straight from shiny to greasy! Nobody wants that.

4. Christmas in November

Picture
Picture
Yeah yeah I know it's not even Thanksgiving yet. I've been slowly adding holiday decorations to the house hoping the hubby won't notice....not successfully I might add. But a red wreath is not exclusively Christmas am I right? No tree up yet, that definitely waits until after turkey day. But my Michael Buble holiday Pandora channel may or may not be on as we speak...

5. Doctor Foster

Picture
If you are looking for your next Netflix binge, you just found it! Cheating husbands, business fraud, a woman on the edge...it's got everything. If you love a psychological drama you should definitely add this to your much watch list!

As always, thanks so much for reading everybody! The hubby and I are going on a weekend getaway to a place I've been longing to visit, and I can't wait to share all that with you next week! In the mean time, make sure to follow @fancyfreeblog on Instagram and Twitter to follow along and see more! :)

Five Friday Favorites: 5 Ways to Do a Silk Scarf

11/4/2016

For a little twist on the "Five Friday Favorites" category, I decided to make a post about five ways to use my favorite accessory...the silk scarf! Enjoy!

1. Doll Up Your Bag

Picture
Guess suede dress [new, $30], Gucci bag [secondhand, hand me down], Gucci scarf [new, gift]
A classic! Tying a knot or bow will spice up your bag and add a pop to your outfit.

2. Tied Up With a Bow

Picture
Lazy hair day? Fold your scarf into a two inch strip and bring both ends up behind your ears to the top of your head. Tie your bow and pull apart loops for a fuller look. Tuck in the ends and voila!

3. Knotty Wrap

Picture
A simpler headband option if the bow isn't really your style. Pull up behind ears, tie a double knot, and tuck in ends.

4. Wrist Wear

Picture
Like a corsage ala your high school prom. Make sure to tie it on your less dominate hand!

5. Neck Scarf-ing It

Picture
Channel your inner 70s chic! If you aren't feeling the long ends, wrap twice around your neck for a simpler look.

Thank you for reading, and if you enjoy seeing posts like this, please let me know in the comments below!
