Not going to lie...I do NOT own the most impressive sunglasses collection. It used to be bigger and filled with cheaply made Target knock offs. But you really get what you pay for. The lenses would fall out, the arms would lose their resistance, and I would end up going through these cheapies like tissues. In the long run, I found that it was actually *cheaper* to invest in a well made high end pair, then keep replacing the ones I kept picking up at the H&M check out. Hence, it takes some time to build up my collection again. But I think I have started with a strong foundation, so I wanted to share the sunnies that I recommend for everyone to include in their wardrobe! Tortoise - BurberryThe newest additions! I just received this newest pair in the mail within the past few weeks, and I practically haven't put them down! I was looking to add a tortoise colored pair to my collection, and had recently purchased a similar Burberry pair on Poshmark. However, 10 days went by and the seller still hadn't shipped. I was super disappointed, but filed a claim and got my money back to start the search again. It must have been meant to be because within a few days a found an even *cuter* pair at a cheaper price! $44 dollars later they were mine. I used to to have a pair of tortoise Rayban Wayfarers and after 6 years of love they went missing, yet to be found. :( I was really missing them, especially for outfits including neutrals that aren't black (navy, grey, tan). It's a little detail, but that's why I find a tortoise sunny so important for my wardrobe. Black oversized - ChanelYou've seen these bad boys a few times! These are also an eBay find, and I got them for a mere $35! Super lucky find, because I had been hunting similar pair like this for months, and they rarely went for anything less $75. They have a few minor scratches on the lenses, which I plan to have replaced sometime in the future, but it's not super important as they are only noticeable when you look very closely. Black oversized sunnies are a total SoCal staple. I imagine Real Housewives or athlete wives strolling Rodeo Dr, hiding their faces from any paparazzo. Or maybe they are hungover. Whatever the reason, I love an oversized black pair of sunglasses to chic up any thrown together outfit. A little funky - DiorWe all need that one fun pair for festivals! Big surprise: eBay! I've had this pair for a little while now, I bought them almost two years ago on an auction style listing. I waited until the very last 10 seconds, and probably peeved someone off when I made a bid only a few dollars over their highest bid leaving them with no time to counter. A girls gotta do what a girls gotta do! Ultimately, this pair belonged to me for only $30. While this pair doesn't get as much love as the others, I think it's important to have that one pair of sunnies for fun events or when you need to perk up a bland outfit. Big pink cat eyes definitely know how to work some jeans and a tee! AViators - Ray-BanYou guys...these peeps right here are the REAL MVPs.
I bought them nearly 7 years ago at our base's BX (Base Exchange for you non military peeps). The BX is a store for military personnel that carries a lot of mid end clothing, shoes, accesories, and home goods at cheaper prices with no tax. I ended up buying them brand new for $90. These poor things have hit nearly every type of surface and ended up in too many toilets to count (no worries they have been ncredibly cloroxed!) Surprisingly they have minimal scratching and still a lot of life. This is a true life example of when paying more is cheaper in the long run! No matter what brand aviators you purchase, they are a low key but classic option to bring an outfit together. If I had to recommend one design of sunglasses for your collection, this would be the one to start with. Thanks so much for reading! Would love to hear what your favorites sunglasses are.
